Kitchen Flooring

Kitchen flooring replacement across Tampa Bay

A kitchen floor has to take water, dropped pots, chair traffic, and the dishwasher leak you do not know about yet. We install luxury vinyl plank, porcelain, and engineered hardwood with proper underlayment, transitions to adjacent rooms, and waterproofing at the sink, fridge, and dishwasher so the floor survives Florida's humidity in a 10-year-old house and a 50-year-old one.

  • Subfloor inspection, level check, and any needed patching or sistering of joists

What do homeowners ask about Kitchen Flooring?

How much does kitchen flooring cost in Tampa Bay?

Installed kitchen flooring in Tampa Bay runs $2,800-$9,500 for a typical 80-150 square foot kitchen. LVP lands at the lower end, porcelain in the middle, and engineered hardwood at the higher end. Subfloor repair, tile demo, and custom transitions add to the cost.

LVP vs. porcelain: which is better for a kitchen?

LVP is warmer, quieter underfoot, and faster to install. Porcelain is harder, more scratch-resistant, and handles standing water without damage, which matters in a humid climate. For most Tampa Bay remodels, LVP is the right pick unless you want a continuous tile floor that runs from the kitchen into the living room.

Can you install wood flooring in a kitchen?

Yes, but it should be engineered hardwood, not solid. Engineered wood is dimensionally stable, handles Tampa Bay's humidity swings and AC cycling better than solid, and can be refinished at least once. We avoid solid wood in kitchens because standing water and the occasional dishwasher leak will cup the boards, and Florida's humidity makes that risk worse than in a drier climate.

Do I need to remove the cabinets to replace the floor?

Not usually. We install the new floor up to the toe-kick of the existing cabinets. The only time we recommend cabinet removal is when the new floor is thicker than the old one and the dishwasher height or the range fit is at risk. We confirm the height call at the consult.

What about waterproofing under the dishwasher?

We install a dishwasher pan under the unit on every kitchen floor job, regardless of the floor material. The pan catches a leak before it reaches the subfloor. For tile we also add an uncoupling membrane at the wet zone (sink, fridge, dishwasher) for full waterproofing, and for homes in coastal flood zones near St. Petersburg or Clearwater Beach we extend that waterproofing up the toe-kick as extra insurance.

Homeowners who hired us for this

Our bungalow kitchen was original to the 1940s house and the layout made no sense. The crew that came out through this referral gutted it, moved the fridge wall, and worked around our tiny lot without a single scheduling delay through two rain weeks.

We went with quartz after they explained how granite needs resealing every year in this humidity. Install took two days and they protected our floors the whole time. Counters still look brand new five months in.

Refacing instead of a full teardown saved us a lot and the new doors closed the gap where humidity had swelled the old MDF fronts for years. Looks like a new kitchen for a fraction of the cost.
